Yesterday I saw my therapist. She’s a believer and has been a help to me. I highly advise it if needed. I was explaining a situation and she gave her feedback. A lot of it was confirmation for me. Reassuring. I’d say I spoke for about 30 minutes on something in particular. My counselor looked at me and said, “You need to stop letting this have power over you.” It doesn’t matter. These people don’t really matter, in a sense. I’m living this moment and I need to focus on now and my future. She then added something that just resounded in every part of me: I am no longer bound. It’s MY choice to stay that way.
I’ve been wondering how many times in my life, and in your life, do we allow ourselves to stay bound to something that really is powerless? It might be an addiction, past abuse or trauma, unhealthy relationship, or some kind of lie we believe about ourselves. Perhaps we let that teacher or parent’s harsh words take root. Or, we let a past hurt or disappointment taint our viewpoint on our future. You’ve been let down so you assume you always will. Not true. In Yeshua (Jesus) there is hope. Always.
Today I want to speak to you…spirit to spirit. In Christ (Mashiach, Messiah) you are free! Yes, free. Maybe you don’t feel that way. You might still be in a nasty situation. But, you are free in Him! You just need help seeing it and walking in it. This is called grace. It is the empowerment of God to help you live righteously. Whole. Free. You have a choice right now to say, “I walk by faith, not my feelings. I WILL trust God’s promises for they are ‘yes and amen'”.
John 8:32, 36 ESV and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Corinthians 1:20 ESV For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
1 John 4:4 ESV Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
